AST HOME MEETS 2024

Here is some general info related to meets held at our facility for new and returning parents and swimmers.

Pool address:21821 Sportsplex Loop, Athens, AL 35611

Seating: All visiting teams and spectators will sit outside the fence. There are two canopies with bleachers located on the North side of the pool. The gates at either end will be open for entrance and exit. Please have the swimmers enter on the West end of the pool and exit on the East end (starting end) of the pool. Spectators may enter and exit through the front gate or by walking around the outside of the fence.

Concessions: There will be a concession stand open beginning during warm-ups with snacks and drinks. This is where heat sheets are sold as well! ($3)

Bull Pen: We will run the bull pen for all individual events for all ages. You may choose to send all swimmers here or they may line up themselves behind the starting ends. If sending swimmers directly to the stating areas or letting the older swimmers line up on their own, do not allow more than 2 heats behind the blocks as a time due to space constraints.Please plan to line up your own relays!

Awards: Ribbons will be awarded for 1st-6th place, then participation ribbons for the remaining finishes. Results will be posted outside the main entrance to the pool.

Volunteers: We will need 6 timers, 2 place judges, 1 stroke/turn judge, and 1 ribbon person from your team. Please encourage them to check in at 5:15pm at the table by the slide so that we can start on time! All volunteers may choose to rotate with other parents as they coordinate on their own.

Warm-ups: Athens 4:30-5:00,Visting teams5:00-5:30. The meet will start at 5:30pm.

General reminders: Swimmers are encouraged to cheer on their team mates but we ask that they not impede staging taking place by the clerk of course. Also, we request that swimmers not write on their backs or shoulders with permanent markers! The markers fade onto the chairs that we use for seating behind the blocks and it is VERY difficult to remove. Swimmers with permanent markers used on their backs will be asked to stand and not use the chairs.
